Warffemius

Artist biography

Warffemius ( °1956, The Hague )

Warffemius is Dutch sculptor and painter who lives and works in The Hague. Studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague (1974 – 1979).

Warffemius is capable of creating strong images with a few simple lines that stay tingling on your retina. The combinations and repetitions of the forms he chooses, are as simple as effective . The beauty that reveals itself can be best described as timid introvert and subtly layered.

Numerous travels of Warffemius in Turkey, Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, The Caribbean, India, Nepal, Tibet, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia brought hi m the love of ethnographic art, many examples of which are collected in his studio in The Hague and are a huge source of inspiration for his sculptures and paintings. Hi oeuvre is also deeply touched by the values of Buddhist philosophy.
